“Since the workshop I hired Lisa for mentoring. She has helped me pull my art business together and put forth a more professional face to everything. Because of her and other people she has put me in touch with, my business has grown monumentally in a very short time. We also work on the painting aspect, but tying up the loose ends of the business side has been a big boost to my career.” — Joan Geary

Lisa Pressman: Artist, Mentor, and Educator

My journey as an artist began early, surrounded by creative energy and the tactile beauty of materials. As a teenager, I was introduced to pottery, which sparked my curiosity about transformation—how raw materials could become something entirely new through exploration and process. This fascination deepened during my undergraduate studies, where I transitioned from ceramics to painting, discovering the power of layering, abstraction, and mark-making. That shift laid the foundation for my lifelong pursuit of art as both an expressive language and a space for discovery.

For over four decades, my work has been deeply rooted in curiosity, process, and emotional exploration. I see painting as an excavation—uncovering layers of memory, intuition, and feeling through color, texture, and materiality. My practice incorporates techniques such as layering, and stitching, engaging with the unpredictability of materials to create work that is both personal and universal. My paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums worldwide, finding their place in private and public collections.

But beyond the studio, I am just as passionate about teaching as I am about creating. As an educator and mentor, I have guided countless artists through their own creative evolutions—helping them refine their voices, push past creative blocks, and build cohesive, meaningful bodies of work. My approach is intuitive and deeply personalized, meeting artists where they are and challenging them to go further. I believe in the power of process-driven discovery, where risk-taking leads to artistic breakthroughs and self-trust replaces hesitation.

Through international workshops, mentorship programs, and one-on-one guidance, I help artists uncover their true potential—not by imposing a formula, but by fostering the confidence to experiment, explore, and embrace their unique artistic path. Whether in my own practice or in my teaching, I bring an empathetic, supportive, and experience-driven approach to everything I do. Because at its core, art isn’t just about technique—it’s about uncovering something deeper, something only you can create.

Let’s find that together.

“Having Lisa as a mentor has pushed me to leave my comfort zone and grow as an artist in ways I did not think possible. Direct , honest , and always supportive , Lisa offers guidance but leaves the work and creative process for me to discover. In this way, she allows me the space to find my own voice while educating me with her expansive knowledge and expert critical eye.
Lisa is not only a great mentor and teacher, but a friend who shares her wisdom and love of art in the very best manner. I couldn't imagine a better person to inspire and help me reach the next level in my painting.”
